Fossil, art and object of practical utility, this pair of bookends was hand-cut and polished from fossiliferous stone excavated from the world's largest desert, the Sahara. The place of origin in Morocco is the site of an ancient seafloor where the sediment resulting in this fossil-bearing stone was deposited more than 350 million years ago when life on Earth was first taking a foothold on land after billions of years at sea. These bookends are each unique, one-of-a-kind works of art that predominately contain Orthoceras (extinct Cephalopods resembling modern-day squids). 8 x 6.5 in tall
